We are against all breeding of companion animals--rescue is ALWAYS the best choice!
Estimated number of healthy, adoptable cats and dogs euthanized by shelters each year: 2.7 million
Estimated percent of dogs in shelters who are "purebred": 25 percent
Check your local Animal Services and SPCAs to adopt a companion.

Things you can do instead: apply Soft Claws(.com), put scratching posts near where inappropriate scratching happens (try different types - sisal, cardboard, rug), put double-sided tape where the inappropriate scratching happens (supervise so they don't swallow the tape if it gets stuck on their paws)
